V‑IZ is offered through the website (v-iz.de) as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. This page explains the purchase terms for the website purchase as well as, additionally, the feature-specific in-app subscriptions of the mobile app. The full contractual provisions can be found in our Terms and Conditions; the statutory right of withdrawal is described in the Withdrawal Instructions.
1. V‑IZ one-time purchase (website)
1.1 What is included?
The purchase is made through v-iz.de and is a one-time purchase per level (A1, A2 or B1). It grants:
- 12 months of access to the video course (200 lessons per level, with a DaF-certified teacher);
- access to the AI language trainer and AI writing trainer, as well as quizzes, practice boards and learning progress tracking on app.v-iz.de, likewise for 12 months;
- the 2 Hueber companion books for the selected level ("Schritte plus Neu", course book + workbook).
For the Hueber companion books, you choose between two delivery types at order completion:
- Printed: physical shipping by DHL, EU-wide, for a flat shipping fee of 4.99 € (see Shipping & Delivery).
- Digital: Hueber activation codes by e-mail immediately after order completion; available worldwide, with no shipping costs.
The delivered companion books (printed) or the redeemed Hueber codes (digital) are yours permanently and remain so even after the 12-month access period has ended.
Fixed book price: The Hueber companion books are price-controlled educational works under the German Fixed Book Price Act (Buchpreisbindungsgesetz, BuchPrG). Within the purchase price they are accounted at the legally fixed Hueber publisher price (currently 23.00 € per volume, 46.00 € for the two volumes of one level); the remaining portion of the purchase price is attributable to the video course access.
1.2 Price and payment
- Price: 149.99 € one-time (incl. VAT) per level. If you choose the printed books, plus a 4.99 € flat shipping fee (EU-wide, shown separately at checkout).
- One-time charge: The purchase price is charged once at order completion. There is no recurring payment, no automatic renewal and no subscription.
- Access period: 12 months from activation. Afterwards your access ends automatically; nothing further is charged and you do not need to cancel anything.
- Delivery of the books: "Printed" by DHL within a few business days; "Digital" as Hueber activation codes immediately after order completion by e-mail (for details, see Shipping & Delivery).
- Means of payment: Credit card, SEPA direct debit, PayPal, Klarna (incl. instalment payment), Apple Pay or Google Pay. Processing is handled by our payment service provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Limited, Ireland). For instalment payment via Klarna, this is a financing agreement between you and Klarna; towards V‑IZ the purchase remains a one-time purchase, and the full purchase price is credited to V‑IZ in a single sum.
- Invoice: You receive an invoice showing VAT by e-mail.
1.3 No subscription – nothing to cancel
Since this is a one-time purchase, there is no subscription and no cancellation. There is no minimum term, no notice period and no recurring charge. After 12 months your access ends automatically. A "cancellation button" under § 312k BGB is not required, as there is no continuing obligation running on a subscription basis.
1.4 Another level / renewed access
If you would like renewed access or another level after expiry (e.g. A2 after A1), you purchase it as a new, separate one-time purchase at the price then in effect. The associated Hueber companion books for the new level are included in the purchase price. Your previous books, redeemed codes and your learning progress are retained. Parallel use of several levels is possible (each a separate one-time purchase).
1.5 Already have the books? Voucher campaign
If you already own the Hueber companion books ("Schritte plus Neu") for your level, send us an e-mail at info@v-iz.de with a photo of your books as proof. You receive a 23.00 € voucher per verified volume (max. 46.00 € per level), which is offset against your purchase.
2. In-app subscriptions (mobile app, Apple App Store / Google Play Store)
2.1 What are in-app subscriptions?
In our mobile app you can additionally purchase feature-specific subscriptions (e.g. extended AI features, tokens, premium features). These subscriptions are independent of the one-time purchase on the website and are processed exclusively via the respective app store (Apple App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android).
2.2 Contracting party and payment processing
For in-app purchases, the contract is concluded directly with Apple or Google. Payment processing takes place via the payment methods stored in your Apple ID or Google account. V‑IZ receives only a technical confirmation of the subscription status, which we synchronise with your V‑IZ account via RevenueCat.
2.3 Management & cancellation in the respective app store
You manage and cancel in-app subscriptions yourself in the settings of your device:
- iOS (Apple): Settings > [Your name at the top] > Subscriptions
- Android (Google): Google Play Store > Profile icon > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions
In-app subscriptions must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in order to prevent automatic renewal (the current terms of the respective app store are decisive).
2.4 Refunds for in-app purchases
We have no technical access to your Apple or Google payment data. Please therefore address refund requests for in-app purchases directly to Apple or Google.
3. Companion books (included in the one-time purchase)
The Hueber companion books ("Schritte plus Neu", course book + workbook for the selected level) are part of the one-time purchase and included in the purchase price (149.99 €). With the printed variant, a flat shipping fee of 4.99 € applies additionally; the digital variant has no shipping costs. The books (printed) or the Hueber codes (digital) are yours permanently, even after the 12-month access period has ended. For details on delivery times, see our Shipping & Delivery. 4. Returns and refunds
The following apply to your one-time purchase:
- Statutory right of withdrawal: 14 days; for the immediately unlocked video course (digital content) it expires under § 356 para. 5 BGB once you have requested that performance begin. For printed books, the 14-day right of withdrawal for goods applies from receipt. For details, see the Withdrawal Instructions.
- Voluntary return policy (goodwill): In addition – beyond the statutory minimum – we grant a 7-day return of the printed books (full refund) or, for the digital variant, a refund less a 46 € book fee. For details, see the Withdrawal Instructions, Clause 6.
