Much of V‑IZ is free. Only Premium and the video course, booked separately for one level (A1, A2 or B1), are paid products. Both are available either as an automatically renewing subscription or as a one-time purchase for 12 months. Everything is digital: you receive access and the book codes immediately after payment, worldwide and without shipping. This page explains what is included, how much it costs and how to end a subscription. The full contractual provisions are set out in our Terms and Conditions; details of your right of withdrawal are provided in our Withdrawal policy.
1. Use for free
You can use V‑IZ at v-iz.de/app/ without an account and without payment. This includes:
- all trainers, the vocabulary trainer, grammar and pronunciation;
- the “Living in Germany” test;
- a free portion of AI exercises and an exam simulation every day.
You do not enter into a payment contract for the free part. There are no costs to you and nothing will be debited.
2. Premium
2.1 What is included?
Premium unlocks significantly higher daily AI limits than the free daily portion. Everything from the free area remains usable.
2.2 Prices
- 12,99 € per month as a subscription
- 89,99 € for one-time access lasting 12 months
All prices include VAT. The monthly subscription is automatically extended for one month at a time until you cancel. With a one-time purchase, the debit is made once, nothing is extended, and access ends automatically after 12 months.
3. Video course (A1, A2 or B1)
3.1 What is included?
- all video lessons of the selected level with a DaF-certified teacher;
- the course plan that takes you step by step through the level;
- the textbook "Schritte plus Neu" with two volumes for your level, as digital activation codes.
3.2 How to get the textbook
The textbook is provided digitally. Immediately after purchase, you will receive two activation codes by email for your level: one for the course book and one for the workbook. Redeem the codes in your free Hueber account at hueber.edupool.de. The licences are linked to your Hueber account only when you redeem the codes and remain there even if your V‑IZ access later ends.
There are no printed books, no shipping and no shipping costs. There is therefore no longer a choice between different delivery methods and the codes are always included in the video course. For more information see Provision and delivery.
3.3 Prices
As a subscription: 49,99 € per month per level. On the first day you also pay 49,99 €, which includes 46,00 € for the two book codes and 3,99 € for the first month of course access. From the 31st day onwards, 49,99 € will be debited per month until you cancel.
As a one-time purchase: 195,99 € for 12 months access per level, without automatic renewal. This includes 149,99 € for the video course and 46,00 € for the two book codes.

3.4 Fixed book prices
The volumes of "Schritte plus Neu" are subject to fixed book pricing under the German Book Price Fixing Act (BuchPrG). Each volume currently costs 23,00 €, and each level includes two volumes. The book portion is therefore shown separately at 46,00 € per level. This is also relevant to withdrawal: once we have delivered the codes to you, the statutory right of withdrawal for those codes expires and their value of 46,00 € is not refunded (see our Withdrawal policy).
3.5 Previous complete package A1 to B1
We no longer offer the complete package for all three levels. If you bought it earlier, what was agreed upon at the time of purchase still applies to you: you activate the levels one after the other, and the 12 months for each level run from the activation of this level, not from the purchase.
4. Payment and invoice
- Payment processing: All payments on v-iz.de are made via our payment service provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Limited, Ireland).
- Means of payment: Credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Which of these payment methods you see depends on your country and device.
- Debit for subscriptions: The first amount will be deducted immediately, then at the beginning of each new period as long as you have not canceled. For the video course subscription, the first payment covers the book codes and the first month; the next debit will follow on the 31st day (see section 3.3).
- Debit for one-time purchase: The amount will be deducted once. No further amounts are charged.
- Invoice: You will receive your invoice with VAT shown by email.
Price changes: If we change the price of a current subscription, we will inform you in advance in text form, for example by email. You can then cancel until it takes effect. A one-time purchase is not affected by price changes.
5. Term, renewal and cancellation
Subscription: There is no minimum term. A subscription will automatically renew for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the period for which you have already paid. Until then, your access will remain valid.
Cancellation button under Section 312k BGB: v-iz.de/app/kuendigen. We will confirm your cancellation in text form, for example by email.
One-time purchase: A one-time purchase runs for 12 months and then ends automatically. It will not be renewed, nothing will be charged and you do not have to cancel anything. Section 3.5 applies to the previous complete package.
After your paid access ends, the free part of V‑IZ remains open to you. Your learning progress is not lost.
6. Withdrawal and refunds
- Within 14 days of concluding the contract: We refund 100% of the course portion or Premium price. We voluntarily waive any deduction for the time during which you have already used the service. This promise is in addition to your statutory right of withdrawal.
- The two book codes: Once we have delivered them to you, the statutory right of withdrawal for those codes expires and their value is not refundable. You retain both the codes and any Hueber licences redeemed from them; the amount of 46,00 € is not refunded. This requires your express consent during checkout, which we confirm by email.
- After 14 days: There are no more refunds. However, you can cancel a subscription at any time (see section 5).
There are no returns because we do not ship physical goods. Exercise your right of withdrawal at v-iz.de/app/widerruf-ausueben. Full details are provided in our Withdrawal policy.
7. Purchases in the mobile app (Apple App Store / Google Play Store)
If you make a purchase within our mobile app, the contract is concluded directly with Apple or Google. Payment is made using the payment method stored in your Apple ID or Google account. We receive only technical confirmation of your subscription status, which we match to your V‑IZ account via RevenueCat.
You can only manage and cancel these subscriptions there:
- iOS (Apple): Settings > [Your name above] > Subscriptions
- Android (Google): Google Play Store > Profile icon > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions
To prevent a subscription from being renewed, you must cancel there at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The current conditions of the respective app store are decisive. We do not have access to your Apple or Google payment information. Please submit refund requests for mobile app purchases directly to Apple or Google.
8. Business customers
This page describes our offers for private customers. If a company or organization books German courses for its employees, the conditions from the respective offer apply. Employees receive their access digitally. Find out more at geschaeftskunden.v-iz.de.
