V‑IZ offers two independent subscription models: the V‑IZ Subscription via the website (central learning subscription, with a 7-day free trial on first purchase) and feature-specific in-app subscriptions in our mobile app. This page explains both. The full contractual provisions can be found in our Terms; the statutory right of withdrawal and the trial-cancel mechanic are described in the Withdrawal Policy.


1. V‑IZ Subscription (website, monthly)

1.0 Free 7-Day Trial

When you first conclude a V‑IZ Subscription, you start with a 7-day free trial:

  • Eligibility: The trial is available only once per person and e-mail address. For a later level upgrade (A1 → A2 → B1) or for re-activation after prior cancellation, billing takes place immediately on Day 1 without a trial phase. Eligibility is checked before checkout via a Stripe Customer Lookup and the customer metadata flag "had_trial".
  • Full access from Day 1: Immediately after order completion, you receive full access to the video course, AI trainer and all learning features. During the 7 days no debit takes place.
  • Day 8 — automatic charge (§ 312j Abs. 3 BGB): Unless you cancel beforehand, on Day 8 Stripe automatically charges 19,99 € for the first subscription period from your stored card. You thereby complete an order subject to payment; the auto-charge is clearly disclosed to you before order completion.
  • Payment methods during the trial: During the 7-day trial we accept exclusively card-based payment methods (credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe Link). SEPA Direct Debit and Klarna only become available in the running subscription.

1.1 What is included?

The V‑IZ Subscription is concluded via v-iz.de and is a monthly subscription. It grants access to:

  • the video course (200 lessons per level, with a DaF-certified teacher);
  • the AI language trainer and AI writing trainer (24/7 practice partner);
  • quizzes, practice boards and learning progress tracking on app.v-iz.de.

The Hueber accompanying books ("Schritte plus Neu") are not part of the subscription. They are ordered separately as a one-time purchase — optionally physical (shipping DE/AT) or digital (Hueber activation code by e-mail). The books belong to you permanently, regardless of the status of your subscription.

1.2 Price and Billing

  • Price: 19,99 € per month (incl. VAT).
  • Billing interval: monthly, at the beginning of each new billing period.
  • Payment methods: credit card, SEPA Direct Debit, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay or Google Pay — processing takes place via our payment service provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Limited, Ireland).
  • Automatic renewal: The subscription renews automatically by one month at a time until you cancel.
  • Invoices: You receive an invoice with separately shown VAT for each billing by e-mail. All invoices are also retrievable as PDF in the customer portal (see Clause 1.4).

1.3 Cancellation — anytime, one click

You can cancel the V‑IZ Subscription at any time. There is no minimum contract term, no notice period and no hurdles:

  • In the customer portal: with one click — see Clause 1.4. This option also fulfils the statutory requirement for the "cancellation button" pursuant to § 312k BGB.
  • By e-mail: to info@v-iz.de with a note that you wish to cancel — we confirm without undue delay.

During the 7-day trial (Day 1–7): Cancellation ends the subscription at the end of Day 7. There will be no charge on Day 8; you retain full access until the end of Day 7.

After Day 8 (running subscription): Cancellation takes effect at the end of the already paid billing period; you retain full access to the course until then. After that, access is automatically deactivated. Re-activation is possible at any time; already purchased Hueber books and your learning progress are retained.

1.4 Customer Portal

Via the customer portal (accessible at v-iz.de/konto) you can independently at any time:

  • cancel or reactivate your subscription;
  • change your payment method;
  • download earlier invoices as PDF;
  • update your billing address.

The customer portal is securely provided by our payment service provider Stripe. An additional authentication via e-mail link ensures that only you can make changes.

1.5 Price Changes

We will inform you of price changes for an existing V‑IZ Subscription in text form (by e-mail) at least 30 days in advance. In the case of a price increase, you have an extraordinary right of cancellation effective at the time of the change. If you do not agree to the change, the subscription ends at the time of the price adjustment; until then the old price applies.


2. In-App Subscriptions (mobile app, Apple App Store / Google Play Store)

2.1 What are in-app subscriptions?

In our mobile app you can additionally purchase feature-specific subscriptions (e.g. extended AI features, tokens, premium features). These subscriptions are independent of the V‑IZ Subscription on the website and are processed exclusively via the respective app store of the platform operator (Apple App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android).

2.2 Contracting Party and Payment Processing

For in-app purchases, the contract is concluded directly with Apple or Google as platform operator. Payment processing takes place via the payment methods stored in your Apple ID or Google account. V‑IZ receives from Apple or Google only a technical confirmation of the subscription status, which we synchronise with your V‑IZ account via RevenueCat (see Privacy Policy).

2.3 Management & Cancellation in the respective app store

Since billing and management are handled directly via Apple or Google, we cannot cancel or adjust in-app subscriptions for you. You manage and cancel in-app subscriptions independently in the settings of your end device:

  • iOS (Apple): Settings > [Your Name at top] > Subscriptions
  • Android (Google): Google Play Store > Profile icon > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions

In-app subscriptions must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to prevent automatic renewal (the current terms of the respective app store always apply).

2.4 Trial Phases

Insofar as we offer free trial periods in the app, these automatically convert into a paid subscription after the end of the trial phase, unless you cancel in time via the settings of the respective app store. The exact conditions (duration, price after expiry, notice periods) result exclusively from the display in the app store at the time of conclusion. Please review them before confirming the trial.

2.5 Refunds for in-app purchases

We have no technical access to your Apple or Google payment data. Therefore, please address refund requests for in-app purchases directly to Apple or Google. The decision on a refund lies solely with the respective platform operator according to its policies.


3. Accompanying Books (one-time purchase, separate)

The Hueber accompanying books ("Schritte plus Neu") are not a subscription and are processed separately as a one-time purchase. There is no automatic renewal; no cancellation is required. 4. Trial-cancel and Refunds via the Website

If you change your mind, there are different ways depending on the phase and product:

  • During the 7-day trial (subscription): Cancel with one click in the account portal — no charge on Day 8, no refund needed (see Clause 1.0 and Clause 1.3).
  • After Day 8 (running subscription): Cancellation effective at the end of the already paid billing period (see Clause 1.3). A refund for the running period generally does not apply; the statutory right of withdrawal and the calculation of proportionate compensation are described in the Withdrawal Policy.
  • Accompanying book (physical): 14-day statutory right of withdrawal from receipt of the goods (§ 312g BGB). Details and return address see Withdrawal Policy.
  • Hueber activation code (digital): Right of withdrawal expires upon first redemption of the code at Hueber Verlag (§ 356 Abs. 5 BGB). Until redemption, the 14-day right of withdrawal remains fully in force.
